The Aperol Spritz is an Italian aperitif that dates back to the early 1900s. Its light, refreshing notes come from Prosecco (or other sparkling wine) and a splash of club soda. A couple of ounces of Aperol give the drink its signature bitter flavor. Use a tall glass or deep wine goblet to serve chilled over plenty of ice. Add an orange wheel to the glass for a pretty pop of color and bright citrus flavor.
Our Favorite Twists on the Spritz
For a variation on the Aperol Spritz, try a Hugo Spritz, which subs in elderflower syrup or liqueur for the Aperol. Or an Amici Spritz, made with 3 ounces La Marca Prosecco, 1 1/2 ounces of gin, ¾ ounces of lemon juice, and ¾ ounces of honey syrup. Another option is the Lone Ranger, which adds Tequila to the mix.
