You may have seen bubble pizza on the menu in your elementary school cafeteria or on the table for dinner at grandma's house. It's a comfort food classic that's loaded with buttery biscuits, pizza toppings, and cheese. Our easy bubble pizza recipe is sure to become a family-favorite dinner. Here's how to make it.

What Is Bubble Pizza?

Bubble pizza is a comforting casserole that starts with canned biscuits. Add the biscuits to a baking dish and top them with tomato sauce, cheese, and your favorite pizza toppings. As the pizza casserole bakes, the biscuits bubble up and become light and fluffy. It's a retro favorite the whole family will love. Our recipe testers raved that the filling dish reminded them of their favorite childhood meals.

Bubble Pizza Ingredients

Here's a quick look at what you'll need to make homemade bubble pizza. This recipe is very easy to customize with your favorite pizza toppings.

  • Biscuits: You'll need 2 tubes of refrigerated biscuits to make this recipe. Our Test Kitchen used Pillsbury Grands biscuits for testing but any brand will work.
  • Meat: A combination of ground beef and Italian sausage gives this casserole its hearty flavor. If you like pepperoni, try adding it on top along with the cheese.
  • Veggies: We kept it simple with diced onions in our basic bubble pizza recipe. If you love supreme pizza, try adding peppers and mushrooms along with the onions. Add black olives on top for that classic flavor.
  • Sauce: Choose your favorite jarred pizza sauce for this recipe. You could also swap in your favorite marinara sauce as well.
  • Cheese: Our Test Kitchen recipe tasters preferred the flavor combination of shredded mozzarella and shredded cheddar in this recipe.

  4. Bake: Bake until golden and serve with additional sauce if desired.

How to Serve Bubble Pizza

Bubble pizza is best served once it's had 10 minutes to rest after coming out of the oven. We like to serve it with a fresh green salad or a simple veggie side, like steamed green beans. It's a complete meal in one pan and many of our recipe testers enjoyed it all on its own.
